Our Favorite Arizona Staycations: Sedona
David and I lived in Arizona for two years and never visited the Grand Canyon. Can you believe it? The most iconic tourist destination in all of Arizona and we skipped it. Sedona is the farthest north we ventured, and boy was it a beautiful town. In fact, Sedona might be my favorite Arizona city (runner up: Scottsdale). We visited for a long weekend and enjoyed sunrises, hiking, jeep tours, and a gorgeous resort.
Sedona
These are a few of our favorite Sedona memories (all photos from my iPhone photo book):
Sedona Sunrise
// I surprised David with a SUPER early visit to The Mesa Airport. We saw the famous Sedona sunrise (with hot air balloons) and enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Mesa Grill while watching the airplanes take off and land. If I recommended ONE experience, it would be watching the sunrise and eating waffles at the Mesa Grill.
It looks like they now serve dinner, too. I imagine watching the Sedona sunset is equally as magical.
We love quaint airport eateries. Is that strange?
Swimming / Resorts
// On our lone Sedona weekend escape, David and I booked a room at the Amara Resort. We love the Kimpton hotel family because of their open door pet policy. Charlie, although very sick, thoroughly enjoyed the accommodations. This photo of her on the red chair is one of my all-time favorite iPhone photos. She wasn't allowed on the furniture but probably thought the chair resembled a dog bed. Who could blame her, really?
If we were to visit again, I would love to stay at the Enchantment Resort. Look at those pools!
Jeep Tours
// We loved the Soldier's Pass excursion with Red Rock Jeep Tours! I remember the tour lasting all morning, but their website posts an hour and a half duration. Regardless, we had a great time, and you can read more about the Soldier's Pass Tour here.
I've cherished every minute of curating my iPhone photo book. Arizona is such a distant memory (five years ago this fall), and without the cell phone photos, I would forget so many of the smaller adventures from our desert life. Photo books certainly help keep the memories alive.
Even if the photo quality isn't great, don't forget to document your everyday adventures. Let's get your cell phone photos off of your hard drive and into a book.
As always, thanks for stopping by! I can't wait to share the final product.
Emily
The photos from our snowy Switzerland adventures are some of my favorites, and I'm excited to *finally* share the finished photo book! I selected a red fabric cover to match the Swiss flag (of course) and opted for a clean foil stamp with the date.
