Well, friends, I finally completed our London photo book! If you've been following along, you'll already know about my photo book bucket list from earlier this year. If you're new around these parts, welcome! Let me give you the Spark Notes: I created a list of the adventures I wanted to edit and archive as a roadmap for catching up on our family memory keeping. I started with the earliest unarchived happenings and plan to work my way through 2017-2018 during the next eight months. With the London photos edited and the book designed, I am officially doneskis with the 2017 bookmaking.
The Adventure
We took a train from Edinburgh to London, and the views were spectacular. The trip took just under six hours via Virgin Trains, and when we weren't staring out of the windows, we were refreshing our browser trying to get Wimbledon tickets! Have you seen the episode of Big Bang Theory when the guys are trying to secure Comic-Con tickets? That is what David and I looked like, probably. Spoiler alert: we didn't get match tickets (more on that later).
After dropping our bags at the hotel, we decided to visit Harrods and then walk around the city. We didn't document anything at Harrods because that shop was pure insanity. With so many humans around, we quickly toured each floor and rolled out to enjoy the streets of London. Of course, I committed a whole spread to Buckingham Palace. The Queen was likely waving through the windows of her Palace, but it's hard to know for sure.
A bit more from our Buckingham Palace walk, and then off to Westminster Abbey! No photos inside, but thanks to the Royal Wedding DVDs we have upstairs, I can recall any missing details if necessary. So can you! The DVD is still available on Amazon. :)
On our first full day in London, David and I accomplished the following London must-dos, per our pal Rick:
3. Seeing Prince Harry, Princess Kate, and Prince William (REAL LIFE). David wasn't interested in chasing them down the street (they were in the black town car), so I snapped this photo as fast as I could. We really could have ended the trip here as far as I was concerned.
On our second full day, David and I woke up super early (5:00 AM!), rode the train to the All England Club in Wimbledon, and stood in line for grounds passes. The queue was insanity. People camped out for DAYS. At 6:00 AM, we were 600+ in line. Luckily, we got a pass and sat on Henman Hill to watch the men's final. David fulfilled a life long goal of eating strawberries and cream, and we crossed another "slam" off of our bucket list. Federer won, of course.
On the last day of our London adventure, David and I visited the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, devoured a few cookie shots with our pal Dominique Ansel, and saw a spectacular (and heartbreaking) show about Billi Holliday.
There are few things I love more than adventuring with my family. I'm so very thankful for these books and the memories they hold.
Thanks for stopping by the blog!
